Volunteer Efforts at Ski Watch.
Did you ever wonder why the annual assessment at Ski Watch isn't as high as some similar lake-centered HOAs? It would be because of the significant number of volunteer labor hours donated by Ski Watch residents and property owners. The list of projects completed or in process is long. Below is a partial list of repairs, maintenance and improvements completed or underway so far in 2011 (minus names since we might inadvertently leave someone out): -Preparing for the dredging project (hundreds of hours of volunteer work so far on this project) -Trimming lake shore--multiple lakes -Installing new slalom course buoys in several lakes -Removing invasive weeds from lakes -Replacing defective front entrance lighting -Marking of slalom courses so they can be re-installed after the lakes are dredged -Burning of brush from landscaping/brush removal projects -Resolving deed issues involving Parcel A -Adjusting water levels -Removing the electrical cable that runs across Lake 4 (prior to dredging) -Hand-watering, fertilizing and trimming landscaping along Ski Lane (through two prolonged droughts this year) -Grass cutting and tree trimming (outside the paid contract work). -Generating several thousand dollars of income from ski tournaments (saving many assessment dollars per lot) -Sampling lake water for analysis -Maintaining the Ski Watch Website -Hours spent by HOA board members' who attend meetings, maintain the finances, do the paperwork, and execute projects There are a number of items that are missing from this list--suffice to say this is representative of efforts that help make the complex a great place to live and a good value for the property owners.
